Resumo

To improve breeding and performance features of Red Steppe cattle herd in the Altai Region, the cattle are interbred with Angler and Danish Red breeds. Currently, the percentage of mixed bred animals of various purity in the Red Steppe cattle population of the Altai Region makes 99%; and that presents a wide breeding material for the selection aimed at the consolidation of the desired type of heredity, particularly when there are many decendents from inter-se breeding. In this regard, the research goal was to study the performance and conformation and body composition features of the herd. Red Steppe cows of the Kulundinskiy type on the farm of SKhA PZ “Stepnoy” of the German National District, Altai Region, were studied in 2012. Thirdand later lactation cows were studied (n = 66). The obtained data were biometrically computer processed using Microsoft Office Excel. The milk performance, conformation and body composition, live weight and shapes were studied.
