ResumoThis work studies the phenomenon of rural tourism its social dimensions from the perspective of public policies based tourism in the quest. for sustainable development. The trajectory of his conceptions and gaps between defined and applied, in order to understand to explain such policies. In this approach the look was then directed to the promotion of rural tourism activity. The time frame was established from the elaboration of the National Plan for Tourism PNTterm 2007-2010. In this perspective, highlights the activity of rural tourism from the reflection of the PNT. The proposed plan as a way to introduce non-agricultural activity in rural areas with the purpose of integrating the local community, the policies referenced in tourism since the farms keeps its characteristics and they see this activity to generate employment and income market, including, sustained development and permanent settlement of their identity.
