IN NOVEMBER 1993, at Kean College in New Jer? sey, Nation of Islam minister Khalid Abdul Muham? mad delivered highly inflammable racist speech. The speech was heard by fewer than 200 people. But after Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith printed excerpts of speech in full-page New York Times advertisement impact was explosive. Muham? mad's remarks sparked outrage outside Nation of Islam and censure within. His speech was slashing attack on traitorous blacks, white South Africans, Catholics, homo? sexuals, and ? in particular ? Jews. He called Spike Lee Spook Lee, Pope a no-good cracker, and Nelson Mandela fool for agreeing to coalition government in his country. The way to deal with problem of whites in South Africa, Muhammad advised, was to give them 24 hours to get out, and then Kill everything white. We kill women, we kill children, we kill babies, we kill blind, we kill crippled. We kill 'em all. Jews he called the bloodsuckers of black nation, and he charged former New York City Mayor David Dinkins with butt-dancin' for white Jew.
