Resumo

The diagnosis of cranial nerve injuries is often difficult in the presence of severe head trauma because coma may obscure all but III, VI, and VII nerve damage. The most commonly involved cranial nerves are the olfactory, facial, and audio vestibular. Of these, recovery of function is most common with the facial nerve and least likely with the audiovestibular nerve.
