ResumoComputing in High Energy Physics (HEP) has always required more computing power than could be provided by a single machine. In fact, HEP has been pushing the capabilities of computers since the first mainframes were produced in the early sixties. Every CPU cycle and every last bit of memory and disk has always been used, running data acquisition, simulation, reconstruction and analysis programs.
