Resumo

A cuantitative analysis of 18 palynological samples from the Tupe Formation at the localities of mine La Victoria and mine La Negra is presented. Quantitative analysis of genera as well as groups of forms was carried out through the counting of 300 specimens per sample. Observed variations on the occurrence of the forms along the stratigraphic profile are discussed. The study of the pollen diagrams suggests the existence of a paleocomunity that evolved without great changes in its composition. The gymnosperms are aloctonous elements in deposits originated by short flood stages. Lycophytes, Calamitales ancl Pteridosperrns grew principally in swamp zones. An autoctonous-hipautoctonous origin is suggested for the coal.
