Resumo

In 1867, three franciscan fathers and two brothers settle in a little house rent in Schaerbeek, rue des Palais. They want to set up near this place a monastery of recollets, which follows thus logically the monastery of Brussels which was situated near de river Senne and that the brothers had to abandon at the time of the suppression of all the monasteries (1796), during the French occupation (the building will be immediately destroyed). This article is the summary of a thesis of school work which follows the story of this little monastery, principally through a chronicle, now retained in the archief of the Franciscans in Saint-Trond. What is shown through this document, is the evolution of the monastery in the city, as well as the relations with the faithful and the local political power. Finally, the article leads to the present situation which is very different of the environment within the monastery is born originally.
