ResumoMultiple myeloma is a relatively rare cancer that primarily affects older individuals. In the United States, the highest rates of myeloma are found in black individuals and these rates continue to outpace the rate of myeloma in white individuals. The causes of myeloma are largely unknown. The strongest potential risk factors include radiation and agricultural exposures.
