Torrential rainfall from Hurricane Mitch trig-400,000 m 3 volume destroyed several houses in Colonia El gered several hundred landslides within the cities of Reparto.Two rock and debris slides triggered by erosion of Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela and the surrounding populat-river banks by floodwaters destroyed houses at Barrio Mira ed area.Most of the landslides were relatively shallow Mesi and Nueva Esperanza on the Río Choluteca and Río debris flows; however, the one landslide that had by far the Guacerique respectively.greatest impact on the public was the deep-seated Landslides depicted on the map shown in Plate 1 were slump/earth flow that occurred below the summit of Cerro El mapped from 1:40,000-scale aerial photography taken by Berrinche.This landslide totally destroyed Colonia Soto and the U.S. Air Force under "Project Open Skies" and from parts of neighboring Colonias Catorce de Febrero and El 1:20,000-scale color aerial photography taken by a private Porvenir.The landslide, approximately six million cubic contractor.This landslide inventory provides the basic data meters in volume, also dammed the Río Choluteca, which for a computerized slope-stability analysis from which a created a reservoir of stagnant, sewage-filled water behind "Landslide Susceptibility" map of the Tegucigalpa area will the dam.A smaller slump/earth flow of approximately be produced.
