ResumoNanotechnology is associated with the design and application of nanoscale particles (viz., 1–100 nm) that possess properties that are quite different from their bulk counterparts. The Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering offer the following definition for this term: "Nanotechnologies are the design, characterization, production and application of structures, devices, and systems by controlling shape and size at nanometer scale" (Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering 2004).
