ResumoThe holotype of Loncosaurus argentinus is removed from Theropoda and placed within Ornithopoda, due to the presence of a pendant fourth trochanter and trochanteric fossae. The taxon Loncosaurus argentinus is here considered a nomen vanum because of the absence of diagnostic characters. Among the Ornithopoda, no synapomorphies shared with the Ankylopollexia (higher iguanodontians + hadrosaurids) were observed.
