espanolEn dos ensayos el autor aborda las afinidades entre Vico y los judios: Vico y los hebreos, al defender sus respectivas tradiciones del embate del racionalismo secular, pudieron apreciar los metodos y los valores desarrollados en ellas, para aplicarlos en el seno de su propia interpretacion. El primer articulo, tras examinar las concepciones de Voltaire y Vico sobre el hombre y la historia y sus influencias sobre el judio en la sociedad contemporanea, y antes de ofrecer algunas notas acerca de la similitud entre la tradicion hebrea y la romana, muestra el caso relevante de ciertos pensadores sefardies, quienes en su afan de reivindicacion de su propia tradicion espiritual, percibieron el significado de las contribuciones de Vico en cuanto humanista religioso y aplicaron algunas de sus ideas para afrontar los retos del racionalismo secular. El segundo articulo contiene algunas observaciones sobre Vico y la tradicion rabinica, con el fin de explicar como defienden la unicidad del logos frente a la escision occidental entre filosofia y retorica: para el judio, el humanismo religioso y el pluralismo cultural viquianos, vinculados por su intento de recuperar el verdadero sentido de la tradicion romana, que fue desplazada en favor de la griega, representaba la primera alternativa moderna al idealismo-racionalismo griego y a fortiori y a las dificultades en que lo envolvian la epistemologia cartesiana y el racionalismo secular de la llustracion. EnglishIn two essays the author studies the affinities between Vico and the Jews: Vico and the Hebrews, when defending their respective traditions against the onslaught of secular rationalism, could appreciate the methods and values that were developed in each other?s tradition and could apply them in their own interpretation. The first article, after examining the views of Voltaire and Vico concerning man and history and how these views affected the position of the Jew in contemporary society and before giving a few notes on the similarities between the Roman and Hebrew traditions, shows the case of some leading Sephardic thinkers in the 19th century, who, in their struggle to vindicate their own spiritual tradition, perceived the significance of Vico?s contributions as a religious humanist and applied some of his views to meet the challenges of secular rationalism. The second article makes some remarks on Vico and Rabbinic tradition in order to explain how both defend the oneness of the logos against the inaugural split Philosopy / Rhetoric of the West: for the Jew, Vico?s vision of religious humanism and cultural pluralism, rooted in his attempt to recover the true meaning of Roman tradition which had been displaced in favor of Greek thought, represented the first modern alternative to Greek idealist-rationalism and therefore to the predicament imposed on him by Cartesian epistemology and the secular rationalism of the Enlightment.
